Nazareth College Athletics

English major... son of Byron and Maryann Mason, Amherst, N.Y... returning for his fifth track and field season, Luton overcame injuries to help Nazareth capture its first-ever Empire 8 Conference outdoor championship by placing first in the 110-meter hurdles (:15.00) and third in the long jump (6.55 meters / 21 feet, 6 inches)… also set a school record with a time of :14.73 in the 110-meter hurdles at the CNY Fast Chance meet at Utica… helped the Golden Flyers to their first-ever E8 indoor title by winning the 60-meter hurdles (8.17) and finishing second in the triple jump (13.73 meters / 45 feet, 0.5 inches)… also sixth in the 60-meter dash (7.27)... earned Niagara Region all-star honors for the 60-meter hurdles (indoors) and the 110-meter hurdles (outdoors).

2021-22: Luton had a strong junior campaign in 2021-22, which culminated in a 19th-place finish at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships in the 60-meter hurdles (8.63)... took first in the 60-meter hurdles at the Empire 8 Indoor Championships (8.26) to earn first-team all-conference... was also third in the 60-meter dash (7.18) to earn third-team all-conference... earned third place in the 110 hurdles (15.06) at the Empire 8 Outdoor Championships and was fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.79 meters (41' 11.5")... top times of 7.18 (60-meter dash), 8.13 (60-meter hurdles), 1.86 meters (6' 1.25") in the high jump, and a school-record 6.76 meters (22' 2.25") in the long jump... for indoor, holds school-record in the 60-meter hurdles (8.13)... earned Niagara Region all-star honors for the 60-meter hurdles (indoors) and the 110-meter hurdles (outdoors).

2020-21: Luton was a multi-event standout for the Golden Flyers during both the indoor and outdoor seasons in 2021... competed in the long jump with a season-best leap of 6.59 meters (21 feet, 7 1/2 inches) at RIT on 4/19/21... top outdoor performances included :14.90 in the 110-meter hurdles, :11.53 in the 100-meter dash and 13.50 meters in the triple jump (44 feet, 3 1/2 inches)... won Empire 8 outdoor title in the 110-meter hurdles and placed fourth in that event at the All-Atlantic Regional meet at St. John Fisher... top indoor efforts included 7.29 in the 60-meter dash and 8.55 in the 60-meter hurdles... finished second in the triple jump at the E8 indoor meet... named E8 Indoor Athlete of the Week for 3/15/21... competed for the Golden Flyers' volleyball team in 2021.

2019-20: Luton performed well for the Golden Flyers during the 2020 indoor season as he placed third in the triple jump (13.75 meters / 45 feet, 1 1/2 inches) and fifth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.58) at the Empire 8 Conference meet in February... other top performances included 6.45 meters (21 feet, 2 inches) in the long jump and 1.74 meters (5 feet, 8 1/2 inches) in the high jump... also competed for the Golden Flyers' volleyball team and contributed 96 kills and 11 service aces in 2020.

Scholastic: a graduate of Sweet Home High School, Luton competed there in track and field and volleyball... a two-time Section Six champion in the triple jump both indoors and outdoors... also won Section Six outdoor title in the 110-meter hurdles in 2019... played as a middle hitter in volleyball and was team captain, team MVP and second-team all-Western New York in 2018... helped team to sectional title in 2018... also competed for Niagara Frontier Volleyball Club.
