ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Aliya Guzman, a sophomore on the Nazareth women's tennis team, has been named Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week for the period that ended Sept. 12. It marks the second straight week that Guzman has been recognized by the Empire 8.

A native of Penfield, N.Y. and a graduate Fairport High School, Guzman continued her undefeated dual record for her career as she went 2-0 in the Empire 8 opener at Alfred Saturday. Guzman paired with freshman Claire Pullen for an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles and then won her No. 1 singles match in convincing fashion, 6-0, 6-0. Guzman is now 10-0 in singles and 10-0 in doubles in regular season duals for her career.

The Golden Flyers have a busy week ahead with a non-conference home match Wednesday against Medaille at 4 p.m. and a pair of E8 matches this weekend -- at Hartwick Saturday at 1 p.m. and home against Utica Sunday at 1.
