PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- Sophomores
Kaleb Luton and
Nathan Bowers posted first-place finishes for Nazareth Saturday as the Golden Flyers completed the second day of competition at the Empire 8 men's track and field championships at St. John Fisher's Polisseni Complex.
Nazareth finished third in the team standings with 128 points. Fisher won the team title with 255 points with Utica finishing a distant second with 133. Houghton (97), Alfred (26) and Russell Sage (12) also competed.
Luton won the E8 title in the 110-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of :15.23. He also placed third in the triple jump with leap of 13.04 meters (42 feet, 9 1/2 inches). After winning the 10,000-meter run on Friday, Bowers returned Saturday to capture the 5,000-meter run Saturday with a winning time of 15:59.38.

Josh Tomaka. McNally was timed in 4:14.51, Tomaka in 4:14.67.
Among the other top performers were pole vaulters
Bryce Florian and
Josh Pomerleau, who placed second and fourth respectively. Florian vaulted 4.20 meters (13 feet, 9 1/4 inches) and Pomerleau cleared 4.10 meters (13 feet, 5 1/4 inches).
Other top performers included
Connor McCauslin, who was fourth in the 100-meter dash (:11.26) and sixth in the 200-meter dash (:23.31);
Mike Welch, who was sixth in the 100-meter dash (:11.42) and fourth in the 200-meter dash (:22.88);
Christopher Celecki, who placed third in the 800-meter run (2:03.75); and Matt Johnson, who placed fourth in the triple jump (12.95 meters/42 feet 6 inches).Â
In addition, Nazareth finished third in the 4 x 400-meter relay (3:32.93) with the group of Johnson, Celecki, Welch and
Patrick Healy and fourth in the 4 x 100-meter relay (:45.38) behind McCauslin, Welch, Johnson and
Arthur DeVasto.
