GENESEO, N.Y. – Sophomore
Mike Welch was among the top performers for the Golden Flyers Saturday as Nazareth continued its outdoor track and field season at the Geneseo "It's Gonna Be May" Meet.
Welch finished first in the 200-meter dash with a personal-best time of :22.61 to pace the Golden Flyers. He also recorded a top time in the 100-meter dash with a fifth-place time of :11.46.
Nazareth's middle distance runners also posted a string of personal-best times in the 1,500-meter run.
Sophomore
Nathan McNally finished in fourth place in the 1500 in 4:06.02, less than a second ahead of
Nathan Bowers, who was fifth in 4:06.10. Junior
Josh Tomaka was next in 4:10.49.
Others in the race included freshman
Ethan Glashauser in ninth place (4:13.94), senior
Michael Brown in 10
th place (4:17.29), freshman
Matt Reimann in 11
th place (4:18.59) and junior
Jake Suddaby in 12
th place (4:20.24).

Josh Pomerleau and sophomore
Bryce Florian finished fifth and sixth respectively in the pole vault. Pomerleau leaped 4.16 meters (13 feet, 7 3/4 inches) and Florian cleared 4.01 meters (13 feet, 1 3/4 inches).
Other top performers included sophomore
Connor McCauslin, who was second in the 110-meter hurdles (:15.09) and sixth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:01.38); sophomore
Kaleb Luton, who was third in the 110-meter hurdles (:15.55) and fifth in the triple jump (12.30 meters / 40 feet, 4 1/4 inches); senior
Christopher Celecki, who was third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:14.28); and junior
Christopher Perez, who was seventh in the hammer throw (34.01 meters / 111 feet, 7 inches).
Saturday's meet served as a tune-up of sorts for the Golden Flyers, who will compete next weekend at the Empire 8 Conference championship meet at St. John Fisher.
