ROCHESTER, NY – The Nazareth College Women's Track and Field squad recorded seven first place finishes and freshman Lea Richard set another school record as the Golden Flyers competed in a rare Monday evening event at RIT.
Richard smashed the school record in the hammer throw as she finished second with a throw of 43.30 meters (142' 0"). Richard was close to the record last weekend at Geneseo with a 40.43 meter toss but beat that effort by nearly 10 feet with her best throw at RIT. Junior Gabrielle Pighetti was third in the event with a personal best 31.53 (103' 5") toss.
Pighetti added a first place finish in the discus with a 29.60 meter (97'1") throw and Richard was first in the shot put with a heave of 10.92 meters (35' 10"). Junior Ally Criswell was third in both the discus and javelin events.
Also in the field events, freshman Hannah Ragule took first in the triple jump with a distance of 10.92 meters (35' 10") and was third in the long jump (4.83 meters (15' 10 ¼")).
On the track, the 4x100 relay with junior Madison Sabourin, junior Brenna Johnson, junior Juliana Bunnell and senior Abbey Szumloz won with a time of 53.21. Johnson added a first place finish in the 400 (59.49) and senior Elizabeth Decker was first in the 800 with a 2:25.54.
Sophomore Megan Morin led a dominating performance in the 1500 for Nazareth as she won with a time of 5:13.97 and the Golden Flyers also placed second, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh in the race led by sophomore Emily Weaver in second with a 5:14.11.
Szumloz was second in the 100 hurdles and third in the 400 hurdles and Bunnell was fourth in the 200 for the Golden Flyers.
