HOUGHTON, NY – The sprinters for the Nazareth College Women's Track and Field team had some of the highest finishes of the day including the first place 4x400 relay made up of junior Claire Bargabos, senior Elizabeth Decker, freshman Lauren Brendall and sophomore Alexis Anagnostopulos that won with a time of 4:21.88.
The Golden Flyers also had high finishes with senior Abbey Szumloz who was second in the 200-meter race with a 28.42 time and Decker who won the 400-meter event in 1:03.04. Szumloz was also fourth in the 60-meter hurdles in 10.22 while freshman Sophie Hartz finished sixth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.47.
In addition, sophomore Emily Weaver finished fourth in the mile (5:41.41) and Anagnostopulos was fourth in the 800 (2:35.51).
In the field events, freshman Lea Richard was second in the weight throw (13.96 meters (45' 9 ¾")) and fifth in the shot put (10.69 meters (35' 1")). Fellow freshman Hannah Ragule won the long jump (5.13 meters (16' 10") and Hartz was fifth in the same event with a leap of 4.72 meters (15' 6").
The road meet was the final tune-up before the Empire 8 Championships that will be held at Nazareth March 19.
