Ray Falso Scored Twice in Heartbreaking Loss for Men’s Hockey

ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Ray Falso scored a pair of goals and fellow senior Casey Kubara added a goal as the Nazareth College Men's Hockey team scored three times in a span of three minutes in the third period to tie the score but Elmira College scored with five minutes remaining to pull out a 4-3 victory Wednesday night in a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) game at the Bill Gray's Iceplex.

Elmira (3-2-1 overall, 2-2-1 UCHC) scored one in the first and another in the second before taking a 3-0 lead 34 seconds into the third period.

Nazareth started its comeback as Falso scored an unassisted goal at the 6:27 mark of the final period.

He added his second goal on a power play a little over two minutes later as sophomores Henry McKinney and Michael Houlihan each earned assists on the play.

Less than 30 seconds later, Kubara scored with an assist from freshman Mike Herrera to tie the score at 3-3 with 10:48 left to play.

An Elmira power play goal – its second of the night – five minutes later gave the Soaring Eagles a 4-3 lead.

Nazareth pressured late in the game after freshman goalie Raphael Provencher was pulled for the extra attacker but the Golden Flyers could not find the back of the net for the equalizer.

Provencher finished with 29 saves including 13 in the first period while Elmira goalie Chris Janzen turned away 25 Nazareth shots with 10 coming in the final period.

Nazareth will face Chatham at home Friday and play the Cougars in Pittsburgh Saturday for the home-and-home series.
