GENEVA, OHIO – Senior Alycia Eaton wrapped up her stellar career for the Nazareth College women's track and field with a 20th place finish in the long jump at the NCAA Division III National Championship meet that began Thursday at the SPIRE Institute in Ohio.
Eaton started the competition with her best jump of the day with a 5.45-meter (17' 10 ¾") jump that placed her if fourth place in the first heat of the competition. Her second jump was shorter at 5.35 meters (17' 6 ¾") and after two jumps she stood in fifth place overall.
On the final attempt, Eaton recorded a 5.32-meter (17' 5 ½") but five additional competitors passed her best effort as Eaton was bumped down to a tie for ninth after the first flight was complete.
In the second heat, all nine jumpers surpassed Eaton's distance pushing her down to the 20th place finish.
The senior qualified for the NCAA Championships with a season-best leap of 5.70 meters (18' 8 ½") at the All-Atlantic Regional meet in Cortland.
