Ed Zdolshek made 33 saves, including 16 in the second period.
The Golden Flyers capitalized early against the Soaring Eagles by scoring twice before the game was six minutes old. Janzen's seventh goal of the season came just 1:16 into the game with sophomore
Ben Blasko picking up an assist. Less than four minutes later, Murray scored his fourth goal off assists from juniors
Tom Seravalli and
Scott Dawson. Nazareth dominated the action in the first 20 minutes with a 13-8 edge in shots on goal.
Murray's second goal of the game -- and fifth of the season -- came at 3:24 of the second period as he intercepted a pass and made a fine individual effort to score unassisted with Nazareth on the power play. Elmira finally got on the board at 11:44 as Jarryd ten Vaanholt scored his team-leading ninth goal of the season off assists from linemates Greg Whittle and Michael Collins.
Zdolshek continued to stand tall in goal for the Golden Flyers into the third period until Gabaj netted a key insurance goal off a feed from Janzen to extend the lead to 4-1. Elmira responded just 14 seconds later on a goal by Jeremy Marginsky, but Janzen scored again for Nazareth at 17:10 with assists from linemates Blasko and Gabaj.
Elmira had a 35-31 edge in shots on goal, but Nazareth netted the night's lone power play goal. The Soaring Eagles went 0-for-3 on the power play. Senior goalie Ryan deMelo made 26 saves for Elmira.
