ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Junior Scott Andler scored a second-period goal and sophomore goalie Brandon Lane made 25 saves as host Nazareth battled to a 1-1 tie with Geneseo in a hard-fought non-conference hockey game at the Bill Gray's Regional Iceplex Tuesday.

Nazareth's overall record moved to 4-4-2, while Geneseo is now 5-3-1 overall. The teams meet again Jan. 20 at Geneseo. Nazareth closes out its first-semester schedule Friday with an ECAC West game at Elmira at 7 p.m.

Geneseo's Matt Solomon scored his first goal of the season on the Knights' second shot of the game to give Geneseo a 1-0 advantage at 3:49 of the opening period. Matty Lee and Connor Anthoine each picked up assists. Nazareth matched that tally just 29 seconds into the second period as Andler scored his first goal of the season on a shot that deflected off a Geneseo defender before finding its way into the net.

Each team generated chances thereafter, but both goalies were equal to the challenge. Geneseo's Nick Horrigan, the SUNYAC Goalie of the Week last week, finished with 27 saves, including 12 in a high-octane third period. Lane, making his third start in goal for the Golden Flyers, made 11 of his saves in the final 20 minutes. Each team went 0-for-3 on the power play.

Don Olivieri generated five shots on goal for Nazareth and Dominik Gabaj had four. Ryan Stanimir had five shots for Geneseo and Connor Anthoine had four.
