KENOSHA, Wis. -- Nazarerth's eighth-ranked men's volleyball team split a pair of matches Saturday during the second day of competition at the MSOE/Carthage Invitational. The Golden Flyers swept Eastern Mennonite in their opening match by scores of 25-19, 25-18, 25-21. They then fell in three sets to third-ranked Carthage for the second time this season. Scores there were 25-17, 25-19, 25-20.
Nazareth returns home with a 20-7 overall record. The Golden Flyers are off until March 28 when they host D'Youville in a United Volleyball Conference match at 7 p.m.
Against Eastern Mennonite, junior
Alex Houghtalen led a balanced Nazareth offensive attack with eight kills. Senior

EJ Wells-Spicer had 26 assists.
Carthage was efficient in handling Nazareth in the second match, using a .417 hitting percentage with just eight errors to dominate. Pat Barry and Randy Hansen each posted 15 kills and setter Connor Wexter had 44 assists.
Nazareth, meanwhile, hit just .158 despite a strong outing from Lawatsch, who had a team-best 14 kills in 21 attempts for a .571 percentage. Houghtalen added seven kills and Kraft had six. Wells-Spicer had 25 assists and three service aces.
