Nazareth defeats Brockport, 134-93

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Nazareth defeated Brockport, 134-93, in a men's swimming and diving meet Friday night at Nazareth College. The win brings the Golden Flyers to 2-1 overall and drops the Golden Eagles to 0-2 for the season. Nazareth's women also defeated Brockport in the swimming and diving meet with a score of 135-105.

Nazareth's men came away with victories in 10 of 14 events including the Open 200 Medley, Open 800 Free, Open 200 Free, Open 50 Free, Open 200 IM, Open 1 Meter 6 dives (Naz sweep), Open 200 Back, Open 400 Free,  Open 3 Meter 6 Dives( Naz sweep), and the Open 200 Breast.

In the men's meet, freshman Dan Burke finished the night with three total victories – Open 200 Medley, Open 200 IM (2:20.41) and the Open 200 Back (2:14.49). Burke was joined by teammates Tim Rappold, Jacob Kline, and Bryan Geary in the Open 200 Medley. They swam for a time of 1:54.28. Rappold recorded and additional win in the Open 200 Breast with the time 2:41.02.

Junior Justin Sawran swam for victories in the Open 800 Free (9:26.32), and the Open 400 Free (4:34.42).  Michael Bidwell won the Open 200 Free (2:05.58), Jeff Green won both diving events with scores of 242.05 in the 1-meter and  236.40 in the 3-meter.

Nazareth's women were able to top Brockport in 8 of the 14 events including the Open 200 Medley, Open 200 Free, Open 50 Free, Open 200 IM, Open 1 Meter 6 Dives, Open 100 Free, Open 200 Breast, and the Open 200 Free. 

Junior Emily Sauter finished the night with a total of three victories for the Golden Flyers. The first victory came in the Open 200 Medley (28.38) with teammates Maura Reissig, Carissa Risucci and Karisa Kobel for a total time of 2:06.84. Sauter also dominated in the Open 50 Free (28.38) and the Open 100 Free (1:02.53). Risucci also recorded three wins – first in the Open 200 Medley, second in the Open 200 IM (2:33.46) and third in the Open 200 Breast (2:48.32).

Senior McKenna Murphy won the Individual Open 200 Free (2:17.72), and the Open 200 Free with teammates Mallorie Dygert, Maura Reissig, and #Amanda. Rogers# (1:55.58). Sarah Lopez took the top spot in the Open 3 Meter Dives with 217.05.

The Golden Flyers swim again Saturday, November 3rd at Hartwick.
