WEBSTER, N.Y. -- Nazareth's women's 200-yard medley relay team set a school record and posted and NCAA B-cut qualifying time Wednesday with a fourth-place finish as the Golden Flyers men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed the first day of competition at the Upper New York State Collegiate Swimming Assocation Championships at Webster Aquatic Center.

Nazareth's foursome of freshman Maura Reissig, sophomore Carissa Risucci, junior Rachael Phipps and freshman Emily Sauter set a school record with a time of 1:47.99, just under the B-cut standard of 1:48.00.

Their fourth-place finish helped Nazareth to fifth place in the team standings with 174.50 points. Ithaca led the competition with 438 points, followed by Stevens (323.50), Union (267.50), Hartwick (193) and Nazareth. Swimming resumes Thursday at 10 a.m.

Phipps also finished eighth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of :24.59 seconds. Sauter reached the consolation finals in that event and finisahed 11th in :25.03 seconds.

In the 200-yard IM, Risucci, Reissig and sophomore Rachel House advanced to the consolation finals. Risucci finished ninth (2:12.76), Reissig 12th (2:14.97) and House 14th (2:15.27). Junior Jaclyn Conklin also reached the consolation finals in the 500-yard freestyle, placing 11th in 5:15.74.

In the men's meet, sophomore Jacob Kline made the consolation finals in the 200-yard IM and finished in 13th place with a time of 1:59.24. Kline also was part of the 200-yard medley relay that finished 10th with a time of 1:41.23. Sophomore Mike Bidwell and juniors Dan Walton and Jeremy Hudak also swam.

Nazareth is in 10th place with 48 points. Stevens is first with 342, followed by Ithaca (292), Hartwick (249) and Union (198).
