EJ Wells-Spicer had 41 assists Friday as Nazareth won its opening match at the Vassar Invitational with a three-set sweep over Lasell. Scores were 25-21, 36-34, 25-20.
The win was the fourth straight for the top-ranked Golden Flyers and their 10th win in the last 11 matches. The Golden Flyers, ranked in a tie for first in this week's Division III poll released by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, is 13-3 overall.
Bunch's 21 kills came against just three hitting errors in 28 attempts for a .643 hitting percentage as an outside hitter. Junior
Billy Gimello added 10 kills and 12 digs and senior
Ellis Walsh had eight kills in 17 attempts for a .412 hitting percentage.
Nazareth plays two matches Saturday -- at 10 a.m. against Vassar and at 12 p.m. against Johnson & Wales.
