FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Nazareth's men's and women's swimming and diving teams resumed their seasons Saturday with a meet at Fredonia. The men's team lost to Fredonia, 206-85, while the women's team edged Fredonia, 149-147, and lost to Ithaca, 214-82.
In the women's meet, Nazareth got first-place finishes from freshman
Maura Reissig in the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.98) and sophomore
Carissa Risucci in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:31.27). Sophomore
McKenna Murphy also swam well with second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly (2:18.20) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:30.01).
Junior
Rachael Phipps also swam second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.45) and the 100-yard freestyle (:54.74).
In the men's meet, freshman Justin Sawran won the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:46.49) and the 200-yard IM (2:11.74) and placed third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:34.02).
Sophomore Jacob Kline finished first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:05.49) and was third in the 200-yard butterfly (2:10.95). Junior Dan Walton won the 100-yard butterfly (:57.34) , was second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:09.18) and third in the 100-yard freestyle (:52.47). Freshman Bryan Geary was second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.21).
