CANTON, N.Y. -- Nazareth's women's tennis team dropped its final dual match of the season Friday as the Golden Flyers traveled to St. Lawrence and suffered a 7-2 setback. St. Lawrence also defeated Nazareth in the men's match, 8-1.
Nazareth completed its 2009-10 women's schedule with a 7-10 overall record.
Senior
Jackeline Martinez won for Nazareth at first singles 6-1, 6-3 over Casey Gilman of St. Lawrence. Senior
Elizabeth Way accounted for Nazareth's other point with a straight set triumph at third singles.
In the men's match, freshman
Ryan McCormick secured Nazareth's lone point as he outlasted the Saints' Michael Hayden to win at first singles. McCormick took the first set 6-4, dropped the second 1-6, then won a tiebreaker 11-9.
Freshman
Jeremy Mancus also lost a close match at fifth singles for Nazareth, falling to St. Lawrence's Chris McDonald, 7-6(4), 6-4.
Nazareth (2-6) plays again Wednesday at Alfred in an Empire 8 Conference match at 4:30 p.m.
