Custer second in triple jump

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Junior Kristi Custer was Nazareth's top individual performer Saturday during the second day of competition at the NYSCTC Championship meet at RIT's Gordon Field House.

Custer broke her own school record in the triple jump for the fourth time this season as she finished second with a leap of 11.15 meters, equivalent to 36 feet, 7 inches.

Other Nazareth competitors included Caitlyn Parmelee and Lauren Jamieson, who finished 12th and 13th respectively in the mile run with times of 5:33.04 and 5:34.45.

Evelyn DeSantis placed 16th in the 500-meter run (1:26.62) and the Golden Flyers' 4 x 800-meter relay team of Michelle Rombach, Kelsey Mash, Sarah Wilcox and Parmelee finished eighth in 10:43.82.

In the men's meet, graduate student Robby Castor was Nazareth's top performer Saturday during the second day of competition at the NYSCTC Championship meet at RIT's Gordon Field House.

Castor outkicked Rochester's Greg Hartnett to the finish line to win the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.47. Castor also ran on Nazareth's 4 x 400-meter relay that finished eighth in 3:35.15. Dave Patalano, Philip Schierer and Dan Polino also competed.

Patalano also ran in the 500-meter run and placed 18th in :71.32. In the 4 x 800-meter relay, Nazareth finished ninth in 8:44.16 with Peter Fekete, Matt Morales, Tim Rutan and Donato DiRenzo.
