Women's Track & Field in Second After Day One of E8 Outdoor Championships

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (nazathletics.com) - Nazareth Women's Track & Field competed in the first day of action at the Empire 8 Outdoor Championships hosted by St. John Fisher, Friday, sitting in second place with 79 points behind SUNY Geneseo's 92. 

Isabel Morse highlighted the first day of competition for the Golden Flyers, winning her second Empire 8 outdoor pole vault title, and sixth overall, with a school-record height of 3.92 meters (12-10¼).

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Samantha Luba won her preliminary heat of the 100-meter hurdles in 14.86 seconds, and Amber Hayes placed second in 15.49. Both advanced to the final.
  • Alaina Morley won the long jump with a mark of 5.66 meters (18 feet, 7 inches). Luba placed second at 5.63 meters (18-5¾), and Jasmine Kendrick finished sixth at 5.27 meters (17-3½).
  • Abby Conquest placed second in the javelin with a throw of 33.00 meters (108-3).
  • Morley posted the top qualifying time in the 100-meter preliminaries at 12.20 seconds to advance to Saturday's final.
  • In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Ella Impaglia placed fourth (11:20.24) and Bailey Vissingard finished fifth (11:44.55). Both met the regional qualifying standard.
  • Nazareth recorded four top-five finishes in the pole vault, led by Isabel Morse, who won with a personal-best 3.92 meters (12-10¼). Rosie Morse and Kiara Tornusciolo tied for second at 3.56 meters (11-8), and Madyson Busch placed fifth at 3.41 meters (11-2¼).
  • Jane Beyer and Meghan Moyer met regional qualifying standards in the 10,000 meters. Beyer placed fifth in 39:11.15.
  • The 4x800-meter relay team of Kelsey Fahy, Ella Impaglia, Ava Baker and Mariah LeGrow placed second in 9:36.07.
