Men’s Track & Field Wraps Up Day Two at Utica

UTICA, NY - The Nazareth Men's Track and Field team traveled to Utica on Saturday 2/7 to participate in the 2nd day of the Utica Blue & Orange Invitational. It was a successful day for the Golden Flyers with a new record in heptathlon and a qualifying regional time for the 4x4 relay. 

How It Happened:

  • Jack Pomykaj had strong all around performances in the Heptathlon and concluded the competition with an honorary 3rd place finish scoring a total of 4483
  • In the Shot PutGraeden Heichberger accomplished a 3rd place finish with a throw of 50-0 ½ m (15.25ft), Graeden Heichberger threw 15.25m (50-0 ½ ft) securing a 3rd place finish 
  • The Golden Flyers 4X400 team consisting of Jack Healy, Nick Driver, Gavin McAllister and Michael Puglisi claimed a first place title crossing the line at 3:25.35
  • In the invite 400m race, Micheal Puglisi ran a 50.85 earring a 6th place finish. 

Meet Notes:

  • Pomykaj's outstanding performance in the Heptathlon led him to break the school record once again
  • The previously mentioned 4x400 relay team not only delivered an impressive performance but also achieved the qualifying time needed to advance to the regional championships 

What's Next:

  • The Nazareth team next will be hosting the Division lll Elite meet in the Gollisano Training Center on 2/13 and 2/14.
