Women’s Track and Field Takes Second at E8 Indoor Championships

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (nazathletics.com) - The Nazareth Women's Track and Field team placed second at the Empire 8 Indoor Championships, Saturday, Feb. 28, inside the Gosilano Training Center. The Golden Flyers obtained many regional qualifying times including Kelsey Fahy in the 3k, Ava Baker in the 800 meter dash and Madyson Bush in triple jump.

  1. SUNY Geneseo - 257.5 points 
  2. Nazareth - 105 points 
  3. St. John Fisher - 97 points
  4. Utica - 90 points
  5. SUNY Brockport - 60.5 points
  6. Houghton - 45 points 
  7. Alfred - 4 points 
  8. Hartwick - 2 points 
  9. Russell Sage - 1 point
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Samantha Luba and Amber Hayes went third and fourth in the 60 meter hurdles, with Luba coming in at 8.97 and Hayes crossing the line at 9.17
  • In the 60 meter dash finials , Alaina Morley took third with a time of 7.80 while Alexis Lasher came in right behind her teammate in sixth place with a time of 7.97 
  • In the open 800, Mariah Legrow raced to a personal record by three seconds, crossing the line at 2:19.71 and making podium with a 8th place finish
  • The women's 4x400 meter team of  Alexis Lasher, Amber Hayes, Mariah Legrow and Samantha Luba relay placed second with a time of 4:01.89
MEET NOTES
  • Madyson Bush bested her personal record of 10.85 (34'8 ½ " ft) in the triple jump, registering a new record of 11.09m (36'4 ¾" ft) and taking 4th place while qualifying for regionals.
  • Ava Baker hit the regional qualifying mark in the 800 meter race, finishing with a time of 2:22.17. 
  • Ella Impagilia and Kelsey Fahy raced a hard 3000 meter, both qualifying for regionals. Impaglia finished eighth at 10:28.15 and Fahy crossing the line in ninth with a time of 10:31.52. 
  • Samantha Luba took home the Empire 8 Torchbearer award, given to the student-athlete with the highest grade point average at the championship meet. 
UP NEXT
Golden Flyers who clocked qualifying times this season will head to New York City for the NCAA Division III Regional Meet at The Nike Track & Field Center at the Armory, March 6-7.
