ALBANY, NY (nazathletics.com) – The Nazareth men's golf team traveled to Albany to play 18 holes on Shaker Ridge Country Club at the RPI Collegiate Invitational. In a field of 17 teams, the Golden Flyers placed 7th overall with a team score of +37. Nazareth was only 4 strokes out of the top 3 in an intensely competitive field. Winning the tournament was the Skidmore College Thoroughbreds with a team score of +25.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lincoln Crosby and Jason Clifton finished atop their team and tied for 16th place overall on the individual leaderboard. They each carded 79s (+8) on the day, highlighted by a birdie on hole 9 for Crosby and 8 straight pars on the front side for Clifton.
- Joshua Anstett was Nazareth's 3rd lowest scorer and finished tied for 29th overall in Albany. His score of 81 (+10) was powered by a birdie on the opening hole and a strong front nine.
- Jack Fesetch rounded out the team-scoring group for the Golden Flyers, turning in an 82 (+11) to find himself tied for 36th overall individually. He parred half of his holes, including both the 9th and the 18th.
- Charlie Calcagni placed tied for 55th individually with a score of 84 (+13) on the day. His round included birdies on holes 11 and 14.
- Justin Krause (IND) ended the day tied for 92nd overall after turning in a 96 (+25) with 3 pars.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Golden Flyers will now begin their preparations for the Empire 8 Fall Championships in Cicero, New York. The tournament will run two days–Sunday, October 11th through Monday, October 12th–at Lakeshore Yacht and Country Club.
