OSWEGO, NY – The Nazareth men's tennis team dropped its first conference match of the season on Saturday, falling 4-3 to Oswego State.
Nazareth is now 8-7 overall and 4-1 in league play, while Oswego is 6-3 and 5-2, respectively.
Nazareth trailed 1-0 after doubles play after the Lakers won two of three.
Pierre Ntonga and
David Tuller were victorious at third doubles by an 8-5 margin.
Chris Benedict and
Noah Britton dropped a close 8-7 (7-4).
Nazareth went ahead after
Griffin Bond, Ntonga and Britton won their singles matches. Bond won his first singles match in three sets, 6-3, 5-7, 6-4, while Ntonga also won in three at third singles, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3. Britton won in straight sets at fourth singles, 6-0, 6-3.
After Benedict fell at sixth singles the deciding match was down to
Enoch Li at fifth singles. Li fell at fifth singles 7-5, 6-4.
Nazareth returns to action on Tuesday, hosting St. John Fisher at 4 p.m.
