BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Golden Flyers' men's track and field traveled across Rochester to compete in the Brockport Invitational on Sunday. Nazareth was led by junior
Antonio Benitez, who placed third in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:31.16, and classmate
Ryan DeShane, who was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.92 seconds.
In the 800-meter run, junior
Joseph Cataldo and freshman
Thuan Nguyen recorded top-10 finishes. Cataldo finished seventh (2:04.16), and Nguyen was ninth (2:05.31).
Senior
Joey Nettles placed 11th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.67 seconds. In the 1500-meter run, sophomore
Brennan Farr placed 20th and freshman Yousef Mahamoud was 29th. Farr crossed the line with a time of 4:27.50, and Mahamoud's time was 4:43.84.
The 4x400 relay team of Cataldo, Farr, Nettles, and
Anthony Dumas placed fourth with a time of 3:38.15.
Several Golden Flyers participated in field events. Sophomore
Benjamin Meyer set a personal best in the discus with a throw of 31.78 meters (104' 3"), which improves on his 31.48-meter (103' 3") throw from May 2024 and ranks 9th on Nazareth's top-10 list. Freshman
Dominic Wolff also competed in the discus and placed 24th with a throw of 28.16 meters (92' 5").
Freshmen
Nolan Armitage and
Will D'Agata competed in the pole vault. Both men reached a height of 4.16 meters (13' 7 ¾"). Armitage finished 10th after reaching the height on his first attempt; D'Agata reached the heigh on his third attempt to finish 11th. In the high jump, senior
Kyle Reid was 11th with a height of 1.76 meters (5' 9 ¼"), and junior
Jason Marchincin was 14th with a height of 1.66 meters (5' 5 ¼").
A trio of Golden Flyers participated in the hammer throw. Freshman
Connor Rinas placed 12th with a throw of 40.65 meters (133' 4"), Meyer was 25th with a throw of 31.52 meters (103' 5"), and sophomore
Jack Zatlukal was 30th with a throw of 27.78 meters (91' 2").
The Golden Flyers are in action again next weekend when the team competes at the Coach Pollard Invite at Moravian University and at the University of Rochester Alumni Invitational.
