Victor, N.Y. – Nazareth's men's golf team competed in their very own Nazareth Fall Invite on Sunday, as day one took place at Ravenwood Golf Club. The Golden Flyers sent two teams; Team A ended the day in fourth place (309, +21), just four strokes behind SUNY Canton who sit in third (305, +17). Team B took fifth place (333, +45). Leading the Invite going into day 2 is SUNY Oswego (300, +12).
How It Happened
- Freshman Jack Fesetch (Team A) was Nazareth's top performer of the day, shooting a 75 (+3) to land himself in sixth place on the individual leaderboard. He shot an even par on the back nine, including birdies on holes 10 and 16.
- One shot behind Fesetch and second in Nazareth scoring was freshman Jaxstin Bingham (Team A), who carded a 76 (+4) on the round to take eighth place. Bingham's game was consistent, shooting a 38 on both sides with five pars strung together from hole 12 to 16.
- Nazareth's third lowest scorer (and Team B's top finisher) was sophomore Charlie Calcagni. He shot a 77 (+5) to take ninth place individually, ending his round the same way he started it; with three consecutive pars.
- Freshman Joshua Anstett was fourth among the 12 Golden Flyers competing and 11th overall, carding a 78 (+6). Anstett highlighted his round with six consecutive pars to close out the front nine.
- Senior Vincent Falgiatano (80, +8) and freshman Todd Wilson (81, +9) were the next two lowest-scoring Golden Flyer golfers, and they rounded out Team A. They finished 15th and 17th overall respectively, with Wilson sinking an eagle on hole six.
What's Next
The men's golf teams will look to climb the standings on Monday, October 6th on a fresh course, as all 6 teams will head to Locust Hill Country Club in Pittsford, NY to decide a winner on day two.
