Rome, N.Y. – The Nazareth men's golf team sits in third place after day one of the Empire 8 Fall Championship at Teugega Country Club. They achieved a team score of 306 (+26), only two strokes behind second-place Russell Sage and five back from the lead, which is being held by SUNY Canton (301, +21).
How It Happened
- The Golden Flyers saw four of their golfers score within one point of one another, displaying an impressive team effort.
- Tied for the best finish on his team was freshman Jaxstin Bingham, who carded a 76 (+6) on the day with a birdie on each side. He finds himself in a tie for 7th place on the individual leaderboard.
- Even with Bingham at 7th place and with the best score on the team was senior Vincent Falgiatano. He shot a 76 (+6) as well and put together a great back nine, shooting even with a birdie on hole 10.
- In another tie, this time for third among Nazareth golfers and 10th overall, was sophomore Charlie Calcagni. He turned in a 77 (+7) that included three birdies and strong finishes on both sides.
- Also in 10th in the individual portion of the tournament and third on his team was junior Lincoln Crosby, who shot a 77 (+7) as well. He shot 14 pars on 18 holes, showing great consistency throughout his round.
- Freshmen Jack Fesetch (81, +11) and Joshua Anstett (IND; 82, +12) were 5th and 6th on the Golden Flyers, and 24th and 29th overall respectively.
What's Next
The Golden Flyers are returning to Teugega Country Club on Monday, October 13th for day two of the Fall Conference Championship, and they will look to improve on a solid first round of golf.
