OSWEGO, NY - Max Funiciello and Griffin Bond teamed up to win first doubles and each won their first singles matches to help Nazareth edge Oswego 4-3 in the Golden Flyers opening match of the year.
 
Funiciello and Bond won 6-3 at first doubles. Nazareth dropped second and third doubles and trailed 2-1 and the Lakers secured the lone point.

The Golden Flyers, however, won four of the six singles matches to earn the win. Bond was victorious 6-3, 6-2 in the first singles slot, while Funiciello won second singles 6-2, 2-6, 6-3.
 
Pierre Ntonga won fifth singles after his opponent had to retire in the second set. James Hawkins was the other winner at sixth singles, 6-1, 7-6. 
 
Nazareth hosts RIT on September 14 at 1 p.m.
