ROCHESTER N.Y. – The Golden Flyers Rugby team defeated University of Buffalo on 10-0 in Saturday's home opener. Tries were scored by Quintin Ritter and Owen Barr.

Nazareth is now 1-1 on the season.
 
The match was a defensive battle to start. The Golden Flyers had many opportunities to get points on the board early, but were unable to convert at the goal line.
 
In the 34^th minute, the Golden Flyers went 13 phases and broke the Buffalo defensive line with a run by Dylan Fairchild, who was tacked just short of the goal line. Ritter took a pick and go to finish the job to put Nazareth on the board 5-0.
 
The start of the second half was similar in nature to the start of the first – a defensive battle. This time, it didn't take as long for Nazareth to get on the board. After a Buffalo forward pass, a Golden Flyers scrum allowed for Rashawn Bowen to take an eight-man pick to the five-meter line. Quick support from Fairchild and Conner Nicks set up Barr for a quick pick-up finish for a try.
 
At 10-0, the Golden Flyers' defense held strong the rest of the game to finish the job.
 
Nazareth will head to New York, NY on September 28th to play Columbia (1-0).
