ROCHESTER N.Y. – The Golden Flyers Rugby team defeated University of Buffalo on 10-0 in Saturday's home opener. Tries were scored by
Quintin Ritter and
Owen Barr.
Nazareth is now 1-1 on the season.

The match was a defensive battle to start. The Golden Flyers had many opportunities to get points on the board early, but were unable to convert at the goal line.

In the 34
th minute, the Golden Flyers went 13 phases and broke the Buffalo defensive line with a run by
Dylan Fairchild, who was tacked just short of the goal line. Ritter took a pick and go to finish the job to put Nazareth on the board 5-0.

The start of the second half was similar in nature to the start of the first – a defensive battle. This time, it didn't take as long for Nazareth to get on the board. After a Buffalo forward pass, a Golden Flyers scrum allowed for
Rashawn Bowen to take an eight-man pick to the five-meter line. Quick support from Fairchild and Conner Nicks set up Barr for a quick pick-up finish for a try.

At 10-0, the Golden Flyers' defense held strong the rest of the game to finish the job.

Nazareth will head to New York, NY on September 28th to play Columbia (1-0).
