ROCHESTER, NY - Despite losing twice to Houghton during the regular season, the Nazareth men's tennis team showed up big on May 7, 2022 to defeat the Highlanders 5-3 in the Empire 8 Championship. Nazareth was the number 2 seed and Houghton the top overall seed. It was the first and only championship for the men's tennis program.
Junior
Nathan Allen was named the tournament MVP after winning first singles 6-1, 6-1 and joining William Britton at first doubles for an 8-4 win. Britton also won sixth singles 6-4, 6-3.
Isiah McMurray teamed up with
Dominic Vito to win third doubles 8-4 and Mcmurray also won his fourth singles match 6-3, 6-4.
Nazareth advanced to the NCAA Championships, falling to Kalamazoo College.
The Golden Flyers finished the season 12-5.
