ROCHESTER, NY - 2022-23 was a banner year for the women's track and field program as it won both the indoor and outdoor Empire 8 Championships, the first-ever in Nazareth's history.

Nazareth won on its home track at the Golisano Training Center for the indoor season, finishing with 192 points, ahead of second place St. John Fisher with 146.5. Graduate student Brenna Johnson earned 2023 Empire 8 Championship Field Athlete of the Meet honors after winning the high jump with a height of 1.57 meters (5 feet, 1 3./4 inches), and also earning first in the long jump with a leap of 5.66 meters (18 feet, 7 inches).

The Golden Flyers followed up the indoor win with an Empire 8 Outdoor Championship at Utica with 212 points, ahead of St. John Fisher with 199. Johnson was named the Track Athlete of the Meet after winning the 100, turning in runner-up performances in the 200 and 400, and being part of the winning 4 x 400-meter relay to close out the meet. She was also part of the 4 x100-meter relay that was second.
