ROCHESTER, NY – The Nazareth rugby team closed out the fall portion of its schedule on Saturday, falling 29-15 to Uconn at Upper Field. Prior to the game, Nazareth celebrated its seniors
William Santo and
Thomas Tompkins.
The game started scoreless for the first 20 minutes until
Dylan Fairchild opened the scoring with a penalty kick to put the Flyers up 3-0.
UConn responded with a pair of quick tries after some defensive miscues by Nazareth.
Just before the half, Nazareth applied pressure on UConn kicking into their end. The exit kick from UConn was taken nicely by
Dajour Holmes who had a nice return for a try, and Fairchild with the points after to make the halftime score 14-10 in favor of UConn.
After halftime the flyers got into some penalty trouble which costed them points. Fairchild punched in a last minute try to make the final 29-15.
