Matt Reimann and
Cade Eells set school records in the 10,000 (31:36.82) and 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:15.23) on Wednesday to highlight the Golden Flyers performances at the All-Atlantic Regional Track and Field meet held at Susquehanna University.
Reimann overtook his previous school record in the 10,000 by nearly 30 seconds to place sixth and earn three points.
Eells shattered the school record in the 3,0000-meter steeplechase by over 12 seconds, clocking a 9:15.23 which was good for fourth place. His previous best came a year ago at the regional meet when he ran a 9:29.69.
Nazareth's 4x400 of
Mike Welch,
Benjamin Lewis,
Michael Puglisi, and
Jaylen Savage ran the fourth fastest time in school history (3:21.90) which earned them seventh place out of 12 teams. The previous season best for Nazareth was 3:23.33 at the Empire 8 Championships.
Senior
Nathan Bowers was 20
th in the 5,000 (15:19.48).
Freshman
John Pomykaj (3,208) and
Aaron Lund (2,963) are fifth and seventh, respectively in the decathlon after five events. Pomykaj' best finish was second in the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.41. He was also fourth in the long jump at 6.23 meters (20 feet, 5 ¼ inches). Lund had three sixth place finishes on the day, capped by the 400 in 52.99. He had a heave of 10.34 meters (33 feet, 11 ¼ inches) in the shot put and went 1.72 meters (5 feet, 7 ¾ inches) in the high jump.
Senior
Connor McCauslin just missed out on qualifying for the 110-meter hurdles finals, as he came in ninth place in a time of 15.27.
Josh Pomerleau finished tied for 14
th in the pole vault at 4.27 meters (14 feet).
Nazareth will close out the regional meet on Thursday.
