Third Quarter Run Downs Women’s Lacrosse

PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL – Senior Maren Wallace scored four times for the Nazareth Women's Lacrosse team but a 7-1 run in the third quarter for Vassar led the Brewers to a 16-9 victory over the Golden Flyers Wednesday night.

The scored was close for the first two quarters as the teams were tied 2-2 after one quarter and Nazareth (2-4) trailed 5-3 at halftime.

Vassar (3-1) rallied to scored seven goals in the third quarter to take a 12-4 lead heading into the final period.

Nazareth outscored Vassar 5-4 in the last quarter but could not overcome the deficit built in the pivotal third quarter.

Wallace led the way with a career-high four goals while senior Emma States added a goal and an assist and sophomore Makenna Misiurewicz recorded two points with a goal and an assist. Also scoring for the Golden Flyers were seniors Reva Mussi and Annie Rubel as well as junior Caraline Riley.

Freshman Allie Klestinec made 14 saves, grabbed seven groundballs and caused a pair of turnovers while Mussi led Nazareth with five draw controls.

Nazareth will play at Oswego March 22 with a 4 p.m. non-conference game.
