OSWEGO, NY - Senior Emma States produced five points (4G, 1A) for the Golden Flyers, but Oswego's Sela Wiley's early goal set the tone for the Lakers' 14-7 win against the Golden Flyers Wednesday evening.
Nazareth drops to 2-5 on the season with the loss, while Oswego improves to 5-2.
The play began even in the game, with Oswego leading 3-1 heading into the second quarter. Naz couldn't close the gap and the Lakers created a 7-2 lead before senior Maggie Vay managed to swing the momentum in Nazareth's favor with a strong low angle goal heading into halftime, making it 7-3.
In the third quarter, Nazareth had a quick burst of offense with States scoring unassisted off of a strong defensive effort, followed 26 seconds later by a goal from senior Reva Mussi, assisted by States.
Nazareth couldn't overcome the goal differential and Oswego scored seven goals in the second half to take the victory.
Freshman Allie Klestinec managed to hold off the Lakers in the last 8 minutes of play, for a combined total of 12 saves with first-half partner sophomore Tori Henchen.
The Golden Flyers look ahead to their next game at home against Brockport next Thursday at 4 p.m. on the NLPA Field.
