Box Score PITTSBURGH, PA – The Nazareth men's hockey team took care of business with a pair of wins over Chatham, including a 7-1 triumph on Saturday, securing the No. 2 seed for upcoming UCHC Championships. Nazareth will host a quarterfinal matchup against the seven seed, Alvernia University (8-15-2 overall, 6-13-1 UCHC) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The two squads split the season series at Alvernia with the Golden Flyers taking the first contest 1-0, before falling the next night 2-1.
Nazareth (16-7-2 overall, (14-5-1) continues to add to its record-setting season, now with 16 wins overall, 14 of which coming in UCHC Play. The Golden Flyers previous best season win total was 12 (2014-15, 2018-19 and 2019-20) and conference wins eight (2016-17, 2018-19, 2019-20, and 2021-22).
Logan Tobias netted a hat trick for the second time this season, pushing his season total to 17, moving him into second on the single season goal scoring list behind Dominik Gabaj in 2016-17. In addition, senior
Henry McKinney added a goal and three assists, giving him 31 points on the season (9 G, 22 A) which ties him with Ben Blasko (2014-15) for the single season points mark in program history.
Joey Schaefer scored for the second time in as many nights, converting a 2-on-1 opportunity. He carried the puck down the right side and elected to fire the shot short side to light the lamp for the Golden Flyers.
Schaefer scored on another 2-on-1 later in the period, this time short-handed to give the Golden Flyers a 2-0 lead. The junior picked off the pass and led the two-on-one breakout, using great patience with a fake pass to freeze the goaltender, before firing in another short side goal. The sophomore came into the weekend with two goals and left with five.
Tobias scored his first goal early in the second period. McKinney had a spin-o-rama pass, that Tobias converted in close just :23 seconds in.
Shortly after, he was at it again with the helper to McKinney to make it 4-0.
The Golden Flyers added two power play goals under the five-minute mark, one from McKinney and the other from
Josh Dressler to take a 6-0 margin into the final period. Dressler to a rip from the point from
Liam Beaudoin.

James McDonald single season goal mark of 16 (2019-20), when he tallied his third of the day from McKinney and
Blake Frost.

Matt Sayles made 25 saves in net to pick up his 6
th win of the season.
