ROCHESTER, NY – Sophomore Ethan Louisos recorded a goal and an assist while senior Henry McKinney added a pair of assists to lead the Nazareth Men's Hockey team to a 3-0 victory over Neumann University Friday in the first of two United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) games against the Knights.
Nazareth (13-7-2 overall, 11-5-1 UCHC) eclipsed the old record of 12 wins in a season set three times with 12 in 2014-15, 2018-19 and 2019-20.
The Golden Flyers scored a goal in each period as Louisos started the scoring late in the first as he collected a rebound and gave Nazareth the 1-0 lead.
Midway through the first period, sophomore Griffin Green scored his first career goal to double the lead and then freshman Blake Frost added a power play goal in the third to cap the scoring.
Sophomore goalie Matt Sayles made 17 saves including 10 in the first period to record his second career shutout.
The teams will take the ice again Saturday at 1 p.m. as the Golden Flyers celebrate senior day with the final regular season home game.
