ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- A school record by
Josh Pomerleau in the pole vault was among the highlights Sunday for the Golden Flyers, who hosted the ROC City Final Qualifier at Golden Flyer Stadium.
Pomerleau will be among Nazareth's entrants Wednesday and Thursday when Nazareth competes at the All-Atlantic Regional Championships at Moravian, Pa. On Sunday, he cleared 4.55 meters (14 feet, 11 inches) to finish in fourth place. The record he broke was his own mark of 4.40 meters set last season at Roberts Wesleyan. Sunday's clearance was the first this outdoor season over 14 feet.
Three others had personal-best performances.
Matthew Johnson placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 13.62 meters (44 feet, 8 1/4 inches).
Lucas Sharron and
Ethan Kenyon each ran well in the 800-meter run. Both cracked the two-minute barrier for the first time. Sharron finished sixth in 1:58.28 and Kenyon finished 10th in 1:59.49.
Other top finishes included
Kaleb Luton and
Connor McCauslin with a third and fifth place in the 110-meter hurdles. Luton was clocked in 15.01; McCauslin in 15.51.
Kyle Reid was third in the high jump (1.80 meters / 5 feet, 10 3/4 inches);
Mike Welch was fifth in the 400-meter dash (:50.14) and Ben Lewis as seventh in the 200-meter dash (:23.07).
