Ahlquist breaks pole vault record at Geneseo meet

GENESEO, N.Y. -- Nazareth's men's and women's track and field teams continued their respective outdoor seasons Saturday at the Geneseo Early Season Invitational. No team scoring was kept but the Golden Flyers had several strong individual performances.

Freshman Benjamin Lewis was among the top performers for the men's team with fourth-place finishes in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes with times of :11.39 and 23.00 respectively.

Junior Connor McCauslin checked in with a second-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of :15.41 seconds. He also was 10th in the 400 hurdles in 1:03.61.

In the 1,500-meter run, Josh Tomaka finished 15th (4:07.68) and Nathan Bowers was 19th (4:09.18). Others included Kyle Reid with a sixth-place leap in the high jump (1.78 meters).

In the women's meet, Anna Ahlquist set a school record in the pole vault as she cleared 3.50 meters (11 feet, 5 3/4 inches) and Abbey Szumloz was fifth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:07.35).

Elizabeth Decker finished ninth in the 1,500-meter run (4:57.25) and Claire Bargabos ran 14th in the 800-meter run (2:27.12). Lea Richard competed in the shot put and discus and finished 16th (10.19 meters) and 15th (29.80 meters) respectively.
