Women’s Lacrosse Fights through Weather to Down Keuka

ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Emma Robinson and junior Emma States combined for six goals and eight points to lead the Nazareth College Women's Lacrosse team past Keuka, 20-3, in an Empire 8 game Wednesday.

Robinson's third goal early in the fourth quarter was her 100th career goal. She now has 100 goals and 20 assists for 120 career points.

The game started under a less-than-sunny sky but the rain and storm clouds held off until the end of the first quarter. With Nazareth (4-7 overall, 2-1 Empire 8) leading 9-1 and 2:32 left in the opening quarter, the game was delayed 30 minutes due to a lightning strike nearby.

After the game resumed, the rain started and lasted for most of the rest of the game.

The early lead was important as Nazareth scored the first six goals of the game with States and Robinson each scoring once. Juniors Maggie Vay and Reva Mussi along with sophomores Emily Paddock and Liddie Hoare each added goals in the early scoring run for the Golden Flyers.

Keuka (3-6, 0-3 E8) stopped the run but Nazareth scored three more goals with States, senior Lauren Caldwell and freshman Grace Seither each scoring before the lightning delay.

In the second quarter, States added her third goal and sophomore Eleanor Matz each scored to extend the lead to 11-1 for the 10-goal lead.

Junior Annie Rubel, senior Hannah Kirisits and Robinson scored consecutive goals to start the third quarter as Nazareth extended the lead to 14-1 before Keuka scored its second goal of the contest.

Senior Emma Parry scored and junior Kate Metzler scored a pair of goals in a span of 1:07 at the end of the quarter as the Golden Flyers took a 17-2 lead into the final period.

Robinson opened the fourth quarter scoring for her milestone goal and after the Wolves scored their third goal of the game before freshmen Julia Deitz and Emily Reichard each scored goals to cap the scoring.

Senior Emma Prosak played the first three quarters in the Nazareth goal and made six saves before freshman Tori Henchen played the final quarter and made one save.

The Golden Flyers play Saturday at Hartwick before hosting SUNY Cortland next Wednesday.
