Golden Flyers (5-7 overall) host Cortland Wednesday

ONEONTA, N.Y. – Maggie Vay delivered a career-best seven points on five goals and two assists for visiting Nazareth Saturday as the Golden Flyers won for the second straight time in women's lacrosse, 17-10 over Hartwick in Empire 8 Conference action.

The game was played amidst a steady rain, but Nazareth dodged the raindrops well enough to improve to 5-7 overall and 3-1 in Empire 8 games. Hartwick dropped to 5-5 and 2-2.

Nazareth dominated the early action by scoring the first four goals before the game was six minutes old. All told Nazareth scored nine times in the first 15 minutes and were never seriously challenged thereafter. Vay had four of her points (2g, 2a) in the first quarter, while States and Robinson each scored twice.

Nazareth scored four more times in the second quarter and three times in the third to create an insurmountable advantage. Vay's fourth goal of the game, off a pass from Wallace with 7:38 left in the third, gave the Golden Flyers their largest lead at 16-4.

Hartwick made it closer by scoring five goals in the fourth quarter, but Nazareth was substituting freely by then.
