TAMPA, Fla. --
Brett Randall amassed 10 points and
Quinn McKercher added nine more as Nazareth dominated Keene State in a non-conference men's lacrosse game, winning 22-8 at the University of Tampa's Naimoli Stadium.
The victory enabled the Golden Flyers to complete a successful spring break trip to Florida as Nazareth also defeated Western New England on Thursday, 22-15. Nazareth is 3-4 overall, while Keene State dropped to 3-3.
Randall finished with six goals and four assists and McKercher added four goals and five assists.
Quinn Conroy had a career-best four goals and
Jeremy Jacob had three goals and one assist.
Nathan Anderson added two goals and
Greg Bilek,
Braeden McKercher and
Andy Hamel also scored.
In the first-ever men's lacrosse meeting between the two teams, the Owls led 2-1 early in the first quarter before Nazareth strung together four straight goals to seize control for good. Five different players scored in the first quarter with Randall delivering the game's first goal, followed by Anderson, Bilek, Conroy and Jacob.
The Golden Flyers broke the game open in the second quarter with nine straight goals to go up 14-3. Randall,
Quinn McKercher and Conroy each scored twice and Hamel scoring off a pass from Randall for his first career goal.
Eight more goals in the third quarter enabled the Golden Flyers to take the foot off the gas in the fourth quarter. Randall scored three more times and
Quinn McKercher scored two more times. Jacob added his third goal of the game and Conroy his fourth.
Nazareth's final stat line included advantages in shots (52-40), ground balls (38-25) and face-offs (20-14). Nazareth goalie
Carson Pickeral played all 60 minutes and had 17 saves and eight ground balls.
Matt Keane won 16 of 23 face-offs and scooped up eight ground balls.
Owen Laffey had three caused turnovers.
Nazareth will be back in New York for a 4 p.m. game at Ithaca Wednesday.
