TAMPA, Fla. --
Brett Randall,
Quinn McKercher and
Jon Roth each amassed eight points for Nazareth Thursday as the Golden Flyers unleashed a 22-goal barrage against Western New England in a 22-15 men's lacrosse victory in a non-conference game played at the University of Tampa's Naimoli Stadium.
Braeden McKercher also had five points and
Jeremy Jacob and
Greg Bilek each had four as Nazareth improved to 2-4 overall, while Western New England dropped to 4-2.
Randall had six goals and two assists,
Quinn McKercher delivered five goals and three assists and Roth went four and four.
Nazareth started the game impressively on offense by scoring seven times in the first quarter to set a tone. Randall and Jacob each had two goals in the opening period while Bilek,
Quinn McKercher and Roth also scored.
Western New England never recovered as Nazareth added four more goals in the second quarter to go up 11-6. The Golden Flyers erased any comeback hopes in the third quarter with six more goals, with three coming on man-up opportunities.
In a game filled with goals and penalties, the Golden Flyers also got goals from
Jon Parrinello and
Quinn Conroy. The Golden Bears committed 11 fouls for 9:30 of penalty time and Nazareth capitalized by scoring five times on extra-man. Western New England scored four man-up goals as a result of Nazareth's nine penalties.
Carson Pickeral played well in goal for Nazareth as he started and finished with 15 saves.
Colin Perks played in the fourth quarter and had two saves and
Cam Pilon had four more stops later in the fourth.
Matt Keane went 21 for 37 on face-offs and scooped up eight ground balls.
Nazareth is at Tampa again Saturday for another non-league game against Keene State at 4 p.m.
