ROCHESTER, NY – The Nazareth Men's Track and Field team saw an impressive finish in the 4x400 relay in the final event of the night t cap off a successful Conference Tune Up meet in the final preparation for the Empire 8 Championships February 25-26.

The relay that featured junior Mike Welch, freshman Benjamin Lewis, senior Patrick Healy and senior Matthew Johnson clocked a 3:28.30 which was just off the All-Atlantic Regional Championship qualifying mark. The time was good enough to finish third overall.

Lewis and Welch added solid finishes in the 200 with Lewis taking 13th in 23.50 and Welch finishing 16th in 23.53 for Nazareth.

Junior Connor McCauslin had a pair of top finishes with a fourth in the 60-meter dash invitational race in 7.16 and also finished second in the 60-meter hurdles with an 8.45 time.

Freshman Joey Nettles was second in the 60-meter dash open race with his time of 7.45.

Junior Nathan Bowers led a group of three runners in the 800 with his seventh place finish in a personal best 2:00.40. He was followed by teammates junior Lucas Sharron (12th – 2:02.93) and Healy (13th – 2:03.29). Senior Josh Tomaka was 11th in the mile with his time of 4:32.78.

In the field events, senior Josh Pomerleau took fourth in the pole vault with a 4.27 meter (14 feet) height, Johnson was sixth in the long jump with a personal best 6.44 meter leap, junior Kaleb Luton was third in the triple jump with a final distance of 13.21 meters (43 feet, 8 1/2 inches) and senior Christopher Perez was second in the weight throw with a personal best toss of 16.78 meters (55 feet, 3/4 inch) which also earned him a spot at the Regional Championship meet.
