ONEONTA, NY -- Senior Jonathan Park recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 23 points and 11 rebounds and led the Nazareth College Men's Basketball team to a convincing 81-44 victory over Hartwick College Friday night in Lambros Arena.
Park had six points in the first few minutes as Nazareth (10-1 overall, 2-0 Empire 8) scored the first eight points of the game to set the tone early and take the early lead.
Late in the first half, freshman Gabe Lucarelli nailed a 3-pointer to spark a 10-0 run as the Golden Flyers extended the lead to 16 points at 39-23 with 2:38 left as graduate student Brendan Broderick capped the run with a 3-pointer.
Park added a basket at the end of the half as Nazareth took a 43-26 lead into the break.
Hartwick (0-9, 0-1 Empire 8) hit the first basket of the second half but Nazareth went on a 16-3 run over the next seven minutes to take a commanding lead at 59-31 midway through the second half.
The Golden Flyers cruised to the win with the 81-44 final score.
Park paced the Golden Flyers with his career-high 23 points on 11-for-11 shooting from the field and 11 rebounds. Graduate Student Stephen Gabel added 13 points for his fifth consecutive double-digit scoring effort. Graduate student Kevin Underwood added 11 points and senior Zach Stenglein chipped in nine.
Nazareth continues Empire 8 play Saturday at Sage with a 4 p.m. start.
