GENESEO, N.Y. -- Sophomore Mike Welch ran well for the Golden Flyers Friday as he posted a personal-best time in the 400-meter dash as Nazareth competed at the Geneseo Invitational.

Welch finished sixth in the 400 with a time of :51.36 seconds. He also ran fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of :22.81, equaling the time he posted at Geneseo last week. Sophomore Connor McCauslin competed in the two hurdle events. He finished third in the 110-meter hurdles in :15.10, close to his persona-best of :15.05. He also placed 10th in the 400-meter hurdles (1:04.82).

Among the other Nazareth competitors were Chris Perez, who finished 14th in the hammer throw at 37.20 meters (122 feet); Arthur DeVasto, who was 13th in the high jump at 1.66 meters (5 feet, 5 1/4 inches) and Matt Johnson, who placed 14th in the long jump at 5.70 meters (18 feet, 8 1/2 inches).

Junior Brenna Johnson competed for the women's team and displayed her versatility by finishing fourth in the high jump by clearing 1.55 meters (5 feet, 1 inch). She also ran fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.58, just missing Hannah Brackley's 2015 school record of 12.56.

Senior Abbey Szumloz finished seventh in the 400-meter hurdles (1:09.07) and freshman Hannah Ragule was seventh in the triple jump at 10.12 meters (33 feet, 2 1/2 inches). Freshman lea Richard performed well in the throws for the Golden Flyers, placing seventh in both the shot put (10.62 meters / 34 feet, 10 1/4 inches) and the hammer throw (40.43 meters / 132 feet, 8 inches) and 13th in the discus (28.95 meters / 95 feet).
