ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Nazareth traded goals with visiting Hartwick in the opening minutes of Saturday's Empire 8 women's lacrosse game before the Golden Flyers scored 12 straight goals to take control of the contest. Sophomore

Emma Robinson each scored three times during the first half scoring run to lead Nazareth's offensive attack.
With the victory, the Golden Flyers even their overall record at 3-3 and remain undefeated in conference games with a 2-0 record. The Hawks open the season 0-1 overall and 0-1 in the Empire 8 with the loss.
Hartwick's GinaMarie Wilson opened the scoring 2:04 into the game with an unassisted goal. States evened the score less than a minute later after receiving a pass from senior
Tori Blazey. After the Hawks reclaimed the lead on a goal from Alexa Matarazzo 3:18 into the half, Lyon scored her first goal of the game only 45 seconds later to knot the game at two goals apiece. Following Lyon's goal, the Golden Flyers's attack exploded for five goals in under five minutes to take a 7-2 lead 9:28 into the half. States scored her second of the game followed by Robinson's first of the contest. Freshman
Emily Paddock found the back of the net after getting a pass from Lyon, then Lyon scored an unassisted goal. Robinson capped the scoring barrage after receiving a pass from Lyon.
After scoring seven times in the opening 10 minutes, Nazareth scored seven additional times before the end of the half to take a commanding 14-2 lead at halftime. Freshman
Eleanor Matz and States scored unassisted goals midway through the half, then senior
Jordan Knapp converted a free position shot to extend the Golden Flyers' lead to 10-2 with 9:04 to play in the half. After Nazareth won the ensuing draw control, Lyon scored her third goal of the game. Before the end of the period, sophomore

Following the second goal of the game from the Hawks' Wilson, senior
Regan McGwin set up the Golden Flyers' next two goals. McGwin assisted on States's fourth goal of the game, then found freshman
Caraline Riley for her first score. Hartwick scored three consecutive goals to trim Nazareth's lead to 16-6, but never threatened the Golden Flyers. Paddock and freshman
Maggie Gannon closed Nazareth's attack with goals in the final minutes for the 18-6 victory.
Junior
Katie Lawrence earned the victory for the Golden Flyers with three saves and five goals against in the first 46:32 of the game. Classmate
Emma Prosak played the final 13:28 in goal and allowed one goal. The Hawks' Jennifer Paszko recorded nine saves in the loss.
Nazareth dominated in shots, 34-16, and ground balls 19-9, while finishing with a 14-12 edge in draw controls.
The Golden Flyers are in action again on Tuesday, April 6th, at 4 p.m. when Nazareth travels to Brockport for a non-conference game.
