Golden Flyers (4-4 overall) host Houghton Wednesday at 7 p.m.

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Visiting Nazareth scored the first eight goals and the last eight goals of the game Saturday as the Golden Flyers scored a convincing 23-3 women's lacrosse victory over Russell Sage.

Sophomores Kate Metzler and Emma States each produced seven points as Nazareth evened its overall record at 4-4 and remained unbeaten in Empire 8 Conference action at 3-0. The Gators are 2-3 overall and 1-3 in the E8.

Metzler's points included five goals and two assists, while States contributed three goals and four assists. Junior Emma Robinson also scored three times and added two assists. Junior Hannah Kirisits, sophomore Maren Wallace and freshman Caraline Riley each scored twice.

The Gators scored to interrupt the string, but Nazareth then rattled off five more goals to go up 13-1. Metzler scored three of her goals and Riley and freshman Maggie Gannon also scored. Riley and Annie Rubel each scored before the first half ended as Nazareth led 15-3.

The second half featured two goals each for Metzler and Kirisits. Metzler also assisted on a goal by Wallace, while Kirisits and Lauren Caldwell each converted on free-position opportunities. Dylann Hogan and Jordan Knapp also had goals.
