ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Nazareth resumed its indoor track and field season Saturday with the Nazareth Mini Invite at the Golisano Training Center. The Golden Flyers finished in fourth place in the team standings with 49 points, finishing ahead of Sage (23) and Alfred (19). Ithaca won a close meet over runner-up St. John Fisher. Ithaca had 208 points to Fisher's 200. Houghton finished third with 79 points.
Nazareth's sophomore hurdling tandem of
Connor McCauslin and
Kaleb Luton ran well again Saturday finishing second and third respectively in the 60-meter hurdles. McCauslin's time of 8.52 was a couple of ticks shy of his school record, while Luton's time of 8.55 was a personal best. Both also competed in the 60-meter dash with McCauslin finishing fourth in 7.31, while Luton recorded another personal-best with a fifth-place time of 7.34.
Luton also finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 13.64 meters (44 feet, 9 inches).
Other notables included sophomore
Mike Welch, who placed fourth in the 400-meter dash with a personal-best time of :52.15 and sixth in the 200-meter dash in :23.77, and junior
Christopher Perez, who was fifth in the weight throw (12.62 meters / 41 feet, 5 inches) and sixth in the shot put (10.37 meters / 34 feet, 1/2 inch).
