Second-half rally lifts RIT past Nazareth in women's lacrosse, 15-13

Golden Flyers (1-3 overall) travel to Keuka on March 31

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Host RIT outscored Nazareth 11-6 in the second half Saturday as the Tigers rallied to secure a 15-13 non-conference women's lacrosse victory over the Golden Flyers.

RIT remained unbeaten at 3-0, while Nazareth dropped to 1-3. Senior Tori Blazey scored four goals for the Golden Flyers, while Emma Robinson and Emma States each scored three times. Alanna Fallone and Olivia Africa each had five goals for the Tigers.

Robinson scored all three of her goals in the first half and had an assist on Blazey's third goal of the half with :23 left that gave the Golden Flyers a 7-4 lead through 30 minutes of play.

RIT then scored three times within the first three minutes of the second half to tie the score at 7-7. A goal by freshman Eleanor Matz interrupted the string before Africa scored for RIT to tie the score again. Nazareth goals by States, Jordan Knapp and Annie Rubel enabled the Golden Flyers to regain a seemingly safe 11-8 lead and Nazareth still led 13-11 following States' third goal of the game off an assist from Callahan Lyon with 12:50 left.

Nazareth was unable to score again as RIT closed the game with four straight goals, including two by Fallone, to gain the two-goal victory.

Lyons finished with three assists and States had five draw controls to go with four for Vicki Arena and three for Blazey. Junior Katie Lawrence was in goal for all 60 minutes and made eight saves.

The Golden Flyers are idle now until March 31 when they resume their Empire 8 Conference schedule with a game at Keuka at 4 p.m.
