ROCHESTER, NY – Junior Kaleb Luton was busy Friday night for the Nazareth College Men's Track and Field team as he broke the school record in the 60-meteer hurdles event, was fifth in the 60-meter dash and placed seventh in the long jump to lead the Golden Flyers at the Nazareth Alumni Meet in the Golisano Training Center.
Luton clocked a time of 8.18 to win the hurdles race and also earned a spot in the All-Atlantic Regional Championship meet. Teammate and fellow junior Connor McCauslin was third in the hurdles (8.55) and also qualified for the regional meet.
Luton (7.35) and McCauslin (7.36) were fifth and sixth in the 60-meter dash and Luton had a jump of 6.49 meters (21' 3 ½") in the long jump.
Freshman Benjamin Lewis placed second in the 300-meter race with a time of 36.47 and junior Mike Welch(37.51) was seventh in the race.
Lewis and Welch teamed with freshman Joey Nettles and junior Dwight Bolton to finish fourth in the 4x200 relay with a time of 1:35.68 and the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place teams were separated by just .3 seconds.
Senior Patrick Healy was 10th in the 1000 for Nazareth with a time of 2:48.56.
In the field events, senior Josh Pomerleau was second in the pole vault with a height of 4.25 meters (13' 11 ¼"), senior Christopher Perez was fourth in the weight throw with a final mark of 14.68 meters (48' 2") on his final throw and freshman Kyle Reid placed eighth in the high jump as he cleared 1.79 meters (5' 10 ½").
Nazareth will compete next at the Brockport Invitational January 22.
