GENESEO, NY – Junior Nathan Bowers placed 18th overall and led the Nazareth College Men's Cross Country team to a seventh place finish at the Niagara Region NCAA Championship qualifying race Saturday at the Warplane Museum grounds in Geneseo.
Bowers clocked a 25:55.0 over the 8K course to lead the Golden Flyers on the wet course in cold temperatures. There was some cold rain during the race with some snowflakes in the air.
Geneseo won the team scoring with 28 points followed by Rochester (122 points), Hamilton (127), Ithaca (132), Cortland (167), SUNY Cobleskill (195) and Nazareth (207). The Golden Flyers were 11 position points ahead of NYU (218) and also finished ahead of RIT (224) and St. John Fisher (273) as the Cardinals rounded out the top 10.
Nazareth runners finishing behind Bowers were junior Nathan McNalley (25th – 26:05.7), freshman Cade Eells (46th – 26:44.5), sophomore Matt Reimann (57th – 27:02.9) and graduate student Michael Brown (63rd – 27:19.7) rounded out the Nazareth scoring runners.
